The short answer is YES.  Probate is required to legally identify, administer and distribute assets owned by a decedent.  When one passes, their assets become legally part of their Estate.  In order to identify, administer and distribute assets to their new legal owners, the process of Probate is lawfully required.  Without Probate, titled assets such as real estate, motor vehicles, boats and watercraft and RVs cannot be sold or conveyed to heirs.  Likewise, financial institutions lawfully require Probate in order to assist with discovery and administration of a decedent’s accounts and to distribute them to heirs.
